I’m in love with my cleaner and I don’t know if I should tell her

DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE fallen for my much younger woman cleaner but I don’t know how she feels.

I am a 50-year-old man, no children, and I got divorced ten years ago when I discovered my wife was cheating.

I run my business from home so I decided to get a cleaner. She is in her late 20s and we get on really well.

She comes twice a week and is cheerful and chatty and I have developed feelings for her. I try to switch these off but they are just getting stronger and harder to hide.

We exchange flirty comments and I want to tell her how I feel. Would it be OK?

DEIDRE SAYS: Having a friendly person in your home has probably made you realise how alone you feel.

Don’t chat her up. Friendly chat doesn’t mean she seriously fancies you.

It would most likely make her quit.

My e-leaflet Widening Your Social Life will help you find new friends and with luck, another loving relationship.
